Licence to Occupy available - Redcastle Road

A Licence to Occupy (grazing) is available for approximately 1.3ha of land situated at 12 Redcastle Road. The property may be entered and freely inspected by interested parties until the 11 May 2025. If the gate is locked interested parties may gain access over the fence.

Kakanui Bridge site blessed and sod turned ahead of replacement

Representatives from Te Rūnanga o Moeraki blessed the site of the replacement Kakanui Bridge today, and the Mayor, Acting CE and Councillors turned the sod at the site, joined by contractors Whitestone Contracting and Concrete Structures (NZ) Ltd and members of the Kakanui community.

Submissions remain open on Proposed District Plan

The Proposed District Plan submission period remains unaffected by last week's meeting of the District Plan Review Subcommittee.

Sub-Committee members are aware of both the effort and time required by people to submit as well as changes signalled by central government late last month to the entire resource management system.

On Saturday March 1, the Waitaki District Council’s Proposed District Plan opened for submissions. This process is a requirement under the Resource Management Act and invites all interested parties to make a submission on any part of the Proposed District Plan.

Waitaki Grown a potential key to future Waitaki growth

Waitaki Grown, a group of progressive Waitaki farmers partnering with Waitaki District Council Economic Development team, are conducting a medicinal crop trial this Spring. The trial will test if diversifying their land can support and sustainably grow the district’s primary sector.

Project Reclaim to move to Beach Road

Waitaki District Council’s work to safeguard the coastline from a potential environmental disaster has progressed well, with over 35,000 tonnes of waste being removed from the former Hampden Landfill by Fulton Hogan and transported to a new landfill cell in Palmerston, constructed by Waste Management.
