The Proposed District Plan submission period remains unaffected by last week's meeting of the District Plan Review Subcommittee.

Sub-Committee members are aware of both the effort and time required by people to submit as well as changes signalled by central government late last month to the entire resource management system.

Chair Jim Thomson would like to remind people that we allowed a longer submission period than provided for under the RMA and have three independent planners on standby to act as a Friend of the Submitter who are there to help.

He also notes that the Sub-Committee has asked officers to prepare for a workshop to discuss the resource management reform and how this relates to the Proposed District Plan process and what options Council has going forward.

However, Council encourages the community to make a submission if they wish to.

The submission period closes on 9 May 2025.
