MyWaitaki, the new online portal for rates, requests and more
Published on 18 August 2026
Viewing your rates, making applications, checking up on issues you’ve raised with Council, and making payments can now all be done from the comfort of your couch with your phone, tablet or laptop computer.
Waitaki District Council is launching My Waitaki, an online portal which connects registered ratepayers to their real-time rates invoice, and allows them to make and track customer requests and applications (including building consents) they have with Council.
This means you won’t need to call Council to check on that leak you reported last week, or head into one of our Service Centres to get the latest balance of your rates account.
You still can if you want to, but you’ll also be able to do it from your own home.
This is part of Council’s digital services upgrade, making use of existing systems with a new customer accessible and user friendly portal. That means this is not a brand new piece of expensive software, but a better use of the system Council already uses to manage its business activities.
The launch of MyWaitaki follows a testing period earlier this year where locals signed up to the site and tested it, at a session held at the Oamaru Opera House and again from their own homes. We appreciate all of those who volunteered and offered valuable feedback on the portal.
Council also recently launched an online form so ratepayers can switch from the paper rates invoice and instead be emailed a digital copy. This saves on time, given the frequency of mail deliveries, and cost of mailing the invoices to Council.
Head to my.waitaki.govt.nz today to sign up. You will need a reference number either from your Rates Invoice, Animal Registration or any others listed on our ‘Creating your My Waitaki account’(PDF, 849KB) guide.
The site requires two-factor authentication, so you will need a mobile phone number or an email address you can access to receive a security code when logging on. This keeps your data, and the portal, secure.
For more information please see the Creating your My Waitaki account(PDF, 849KB) guide now.
Note: If our system cannot automatically link the details provided with your information on our system, you may receive the message 'No Dashboard Data Found'. Please allow up to 2 days for Council to update your account, linking them and making the information available.
If you have further issues, please email service@waitaki.govt.nz and we will provide assistance.
