Mobility parking

Mobility parking

Mobility parking spaces are available across the district. These spaces are typically wider than standard parks and are located close to key destinations for easier access. They are marked with the disability symbol and are often painted blue.

Using mobility parking spaces

• Mobility parking permit holders can use designated mobility parking spaces free of charge.

• There is no time limit when using these spaces, unless otherwise sign posted.

• You do not need to activate a parking meter when parked in a designated mobility space.

• A valid mobility parking permit must be clearly displayed at all times.

New: Parking options for mobility permit holders

We recognise that mobility parking spaces are not always located where you need them.

Mobility parking permit holders can now park for free in any paid parking area.

• Free parking applies to all Pay-by-plate paid parking areas.

• There is no time limit when using paid parking spaces.

• You do not need to enter your vehicle registration into a parking machine or app.

• A valid mobility parking permit must be clearly displayed.

Time-restricted parking areas

If you park in an area with time restrictions (for example, P30, P60 or similar), mobility parking permit holders are allowed to park for double the stated time limit, unless otherwise sign posted.

Parking space Concession
P30 Time Limited Zone Double time to 60 minutes
P60 Time Limited Zone Double time to 120 minutes
Paid Parking Areas Whatever time is paid for is doubled

Our recommendation

While you are welcome to use any paid parking space, we still encourage the use of designated mobility parking spaces where available, as these are designed to provide easier access.

Note: We accept overseas Mobility Parking Permits in the Waitaki district.
