Parks and reserves

​​​​Council owns and maintains several reserves around the Waitaki District. Through our Reserves Management Plan, each is managed according to a management category based on a nationally-accepted parks classification system (the 2011 NZ Recreation Association Parks Categories and Levels of Service Guideline). The following management categories are used for Waitaki's reserves: 

  • Public Gardens 

  • Civic spaces 

  • Neighbourhood reserves 
  • Outdoor Adventure 

  • Natural 

  • Sport and recreation grounds 

  • Cultural Heritage – Cultural heritage areas and Cemeteries
