Te Rūnanga O Moeraki

Services and responsibilities include:

Papatipu rūnanga governance

• Representation and advocacy for Kāi Tahu whānau who whakapapa to Moeraki kāika and marae.
• Engagement on matters affecting the Moeraki takiwā, including whenua, taiao and community interests.

Cultural and tikanga responsibilities

• Upholding the mana of the marae and caring for manuhiri.
• Protection of taoka and culturally significant places.
• Tending and maintaining urupā.

Kaitiakitanga

• Guardianship of tikanga, whakapapa and cultural heritage specific to Moeraki.
• Supporting the ongoing exercise of mana and rangatiratanga for current generations and for kā tamariki me kā mokopuna.
