Just over a week to go. Time for a special vote?

If you haven’t received your ballot paper, or want to register, special voting is for you.

The 2025 Local Government Elections take place on Saturday 11 October.

If you have received your ballot, you can post it in an NZ Post Box or DX Mail Box until Tuesday 7 October. Any later, and it might not reach the electoral officer in time.

If you miss that deadline, you can pop it into one of our 9 orange ballot bins located around the district until midday on Saturday 11 October.

  • Woolworths Ōamaru
  • North End New World Waitaki
  • Duntroon Vanished World Centre
  • Kurow Museum and Information Centre

Not received your ballot yet? Then it’s time for you to make a Special Vote. This is for people who registered after 1 August 2025, or haven’t registered to vote yet.

You can visit Council HQ to make your Special Vote.

We’re also offering Special Votes at the Oamaru Farmers Market this Sunday 5 October.
