New online form makes it easier for ratepayers to opt for e-mailed invoices.

Waitaki District Council has launched an online form for ratepayers to switch to e-mail only invoices.

The form can be found here.

This option has been available to ratepayers at their request in the past, but the new form allows them to the switch to e-mail invoices in minutes.

Ratepayers will need their assessment and valuation number, an email address to receive their invoice, and a contact phone number.

The form also asks if ratepayers wish to be contacted about Council consultation on their e-mail address. This includes both the Annual and Long-Term Plan processes, which are essential for the annual setting of rates.

The 2026/27 rates invoices were sent to contracted mailing companies on 29 July 2026. However some invoices have only been delivered in the last few days, well beyond the agreed and expected delivery window.

Council investigated and found that a contractor had experienced a significant issue with delivering invoices – but had not informed Council.

Council will be considering this when choosing its mailing contractor in future.

Switching to e-mailed invoices will mean all rates correspondence will be delivered to your inbox.

If our attempt to e-mail your invoice bounces back, Council will print and post a paper copy to your registered address.
