It may be one of the worst kept secrets in Oamaru, but the visit of a production team for a film project will mean road closures in and around the Heritage Precinct in early January.
Between Thursday 9 January and Monday 20 January 2025 the following roads will be closed.
• Harbour Street, Oamaru
• Itchen Street, Oamaru (from Thames Street to Humber Street)
• Humber Street, Oamaru (from Humber Street rail bridge to Itchen Street)
• Tyne Street, Oamaru (from Itchen Street to Wansbeck Street)
• Service Lane (from Tyne Street intersection to Wansbeck Street)
These roads will be closed intermittently; dates given have been provided in good faith with the possibility of a couple of days either side. If roads are closed beyond these dates either before or after, we will notify you via the Waitaki District Council Facebook page. A more detailed notice is available in this weeks Oamaru Mail.
Waitaki District Council has been coordinating with the production team over recent months regarding their project. This has included working with the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony to ensure the local Kororā population are not disrupted during the filming. It has also encouraged working with local businesses as much as possible so the District can get the maximum economic benefit from the production.
