About the Draft District Plan

The Waitaki District Plan is the community’s rulebook, setting out how land use and development is managed within our district. It has a major role in shaping Waitaki's future and what you can do with your land.

We are now engaging with our community until the 31st of August to hear your feedback on the ‘first cut’ of a new district plan for Waitaki. This is called the Draft District Plan.

The aim of our ‘first cut’ Draft District Plan is to ‘check in’ with the community to ensure that we are on the right track before we commence any more formal steps with the notification of the Proposed District Plan. Because this is a draft and has no legal effect, the feedback we’re seeking is informal – any formal submissions, further submissions and hearings come later in the process.
