Services available in Waitaki:

  • Community Employment Programme (CEP)
    A Ministry of Social Development–funded programme delivered locally by Waitaki District Council. The programme focuses on supporting rangatahi aged 16–24, particularly those who are NEET or facing barriers to employment.

  • Individual employment support
    Tailored, one‑to‑one support based on each young person’s needs, which may include:

    • Career guidance and goal setting
    • CV writing and interview preparation
    • Job search and job matching
    • Support to access driver licensing, training, or tools required for work
  • Work readiness and retention support
    Ongoing pastoral and practical support to help young people settle into employment, apprenticeships, or training and remain in work.

  • Employer support
    Support for local employers to recruit and retain young workers, including help to identify subsidies or funding that may be available.

Access:

  • Referrals can come from schools, MSD, employers, community organisations, or by self‑referral
  • Support is free
  • Availability and supports depend on eligibility and programme capacity
