Community Oral Health Service

Services available include:

  • Free routine dental care for eligible tamariki from birth until the end of school year 8
  • Preventive care such as fluoride varnish and fissure sealants to help protect teeth from decay
  • Dental check‑ups, x‑rays when required, and a range of treatments including fillings and extractions
  • Free routine dental care for eligible rangatahi until their 18th birthday, even if they have left school.

From the start of school year 9, rangatahi transition from the Community Oral Health Service to a participating local dental provider who delivers free care on behalf of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora.
