Proposal: To construct, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission a 500 MW (AC) solar farm including a battery energy storage system (BESS) which will occupy approximately 653ha.
The application proposes to construct, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission a 500 MW (AC) solar farm including a battery energy storage system (BESS) which will occupy approximately 653ha. The solar farm would generate renewable energy to supply power to approximately 130,000 homes, while the associated BESS facility will have capacity to provide up to 500 MW of power for up to 4 hours.
The site is located within the Rural Scenic Zone and resource consent is required for a discretionary activity to establish the solar farm.
