Hearing Stream 1 – General – Glossary – Strategic Directions – Mana whenua - Papakainga

Waitaki District Council hereby gives notice in accordance with clause 8B, Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991 that the Hearing Panel appointed to consider submissions on the Waitaki Proposed District Plan will hold Hearing Stream 1 over three days commencing on Wednesday 19 August 2026 and concluding on Friday 21 August 2026 (or earlier, subject to the number of submitters being heard). Hearings will commence at 9am each day and generally conclude at 5pm unless otherwise advised.

Hearing Stream 1 will be held in the Council Chambers at Waitaki District Council, 20 Thames Street, Ōamaru.

In Hearing Stream 1 the Hearing Panel will hear submissions on the following parts of the Waitaki Proposed District Plan:

• General

• Glossary

• Strategic Directions

• Mana whenua

• Papakainga

• Relevant Planning Maps, Definitions and General Submissions

Further information regarding the procedure for Hearing Stream 1 and the PDP Hearings generally, including Minutes issued by the Hearing Panel, is available at waitaki.govt.nz/Council/Consultation/proposed-district-plan and will be regularly updated as new information is available or new Minutes are issued.

The Hearings Administrator will contact all submitters that have previously expressed a wish to be heard with submission points allocated to Hearing Stream 1, 15 working days prior to the Hearing to confirm whether they wish to be heard and set individual hearing times, speaking time, and other matters. A preliminary submitter schedule detailing times each submitter will be heard will be made available at least 10 working days prior to the commencement of the hearing. Please note that this schedule may change closer to the hearing date.

Pursuant to Minute 1, submitters intending to call expert evidence in support of their submissions are to provide written briefs of that evidence to the Council’s Hearings Administrator at least 10 working days prior to scheduled hearing.

Deadlines for the pre-circulation of reports and evidence for Hearing Stream 1 will be as follows (see Minute 1):
