Council is proposing to set aside funding each year to pay for the replacement of structures on the Waitaki section of the trail such as bridges, fencing, cattle stops, toilets, signs and gates.

Why are we doing this? Replacement of bridges, fencing, cattle stops, toilets, signs and gates will need to be funded in the future. We can either do this by saving an amount each year for this purpose (depreciation) or pay for replacements as needed.
