A busy campsite next to the main boat ramp heading onto Lake Benmore at Otematata. This is a very sheltered spot in amongst tall mature trees with a large open spot in the middle.
You can get supplies at the shop in Otematata.
Registration to be paid upon arrival, either in the honesty box at the entrance, or to the camp warden. No open fires are permitted, and dogs must be kept on lead at all times.
The Waitaki Lakes camping season opens from the third Saturday of September until the Monday of Queen's Birthday Weekend. All information about camping at one of our Waitaki Lakes campsites, including season dates, tickets, fees, and guidelines can be found on our Waitaki Lakes camping page.
Please note new Otematata Boat Harbour Flood Zone camping areas: Casual camping vehicle units ONLY in the RED zone.
The Otematata river can rise rapidly when extreme rainfall happens in the catchment. Only campers who will be present at their site for each night paid for are permitted in the RED zone so any evacuations can be carried out fast and safely in a flood event.
