There will be a water shutdown in Kakanui between 9am and 4pm on Wednesday 18 February. This is due to connecting the water main to the new pipework on the Kakanui Bridge.
Oamaru Public Gardens is home to New Zealand's first Chinese garden. Created in 1988, it was built as a symbol of the friendship between Oamaru and the large Chinese community in the Waitaki district, most of them descendants of the Central Otago gold miners. It is a serene space with a rockery, water features and sculptures, including a colourful ceramic dragon and pandas carved from Oamaru limestone.
