Council provides further information on Water Service Delivery plan requirements and the capital expenditure programme.
Today the Mayor and Councillors took part in the third public workshop relating to the development of its Water Services Delivery Plan (WSDP).
Presentations were made by the Local Government Finance Association (the main lender to local councils), representatives from Morrison Low, Council’s Infrastructure Manager, Joshua Rendell, together with Assets Planning Manager, Paul Hayes on Council’s water capital expenditure programme and compliance investment requirements.
There was also information on the introduction of water metering for water users in the District which would see users move to a charging system based on water usage.
Council will continue to work on creating a financially sustainable Water Services Delivery Plan. Last week the Council submitted a working draft plan to the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), and is awaiting feedback.
The deadline for providing the DIA with a final Water Services Delivery Plan is September 3 2025.
The presentations, and the draft WSDP are available below. The workshop recording will be uploaded later this evening.
Council encourages the community to watch the video of today's workshop and read the presentation to be fully informed about the development of the plan for delivery of water services to the district.
Council will be holding weekly public workshops on this process, and they are listed on Council’s calendar, here. The next public workshop is scheduled from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on Tuesday 12 August 2025 at the Council Chambers.
