Council provides further information on financial forecasts for water services.

Today the Mayor and Councillors took part in the second public workshop relating to the development of its Water Services Delivery Plan (WSDP).

The council’s Finance Team presented information about the development of an In-House Business Unit Water Services Delivery Plan, based on feedback from the Mayor and Councillors at the first workshop which took place last week.

This re-cast rates for the next nine years, including depreciation and bringing forward water metering as requested by Councillors at the previous workshop. It also set out the longer-term capital expenditure over the next 30 years.

Council’s finance team will continue to work on creating a financially sustainable Water Services Delivery Plan, incorporating the feedback from the DIA.

Council intends to provide a draft copy of its Water Services Delivery Plan to the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) by Thursday 31 July, for them to provide feedback on, as per their letter from 18 July 2025.

The deadline for providing the DIA with a final Water Services Delivery Plan is September 3 2025.

The presentation given by Council’s Finance Team is available below and the recording of the workshop should be available shortly.

Council encourages the community to watch the video of these public workshops and read the presentation to be fully informed about the development of the plan.

Council will be holding weekly public workshops on this process, and they are listed on Council’s calendar, here. The next public workshop is scheduled from 1pm to 3pm on Tuesday 5 August 2025 at the Council Chambers.
