Waitaki District Council is sad to confirm a fire at one of our community housing units in Copinsha Street (previously Ronaldsay Street), Palmerston overnight. Regrettably, the occupant of the unit has passed away in the incident.
The Waitaki District Council is incredibly saddened to hear of the fire and send our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the occupant.
Tenants of the neighbouring units have been temporarily relocated and no other properties are directly impacted.
Police are currently on site investigating the matter and the WDC will provide them with any support required.
