The confirmed results of the 2022 Local Elections have been announced and the 12th Waitaki District Council Elected Members have been confirmed.

Three councillors from the 2019-2022 term chose not to stand and Kelli Williams was unsuccessful in seeking re-election.

Waitaki District Council Mayor-elect Gary Kircher said, “It is always difficult when an elected member is not returned at an election, and I was disappointed when I got the news that Cr Williams hadn’t been re-elected this time. Kelli made an excellent contribution over her time as a Councillor, with a reputation for doing the necessary background work and contributing well to debates on the various issues we had to make decisions on. She was also a key member of the Executive Committee, bringing skills and attributes that helped us tackle some of the major challenges thrown at our governance team over the past term. I wish to thank Kelli for her service to Waitaki and wish her all the very best!”

Kelli Williams was Councillor for the Ōamaru Ward and was a member of the Executive Committee, the Assets Committee, the Community, Culture and Regulatory Committee, the Harbour Area Committee, the Grants and Awards Committee (by roster), Associate Chair of the Development Contributions Committee and Associate Chair of the District Licensing Committee.
