Stronger Waitaki and Tenancy Services will hold a workshop at the Oamaru Public Library and Waihemo Service Centre on Wednesday 13 March, aimed at informing tenants and property owners about their rights and responsibilities.

The session, which will begin at 6pm and finish at 7pm, will also provide support and access to tenancy and housing resources. It will be held at the Oamaru Public Library, and livestreamed to the Waihemo Service Centre at the same time.

Attendees will also have the chance to ask questions, and refreshments will be provided. It’s part of the Waitaki District Council’s Healthy Homes for All Community Housing Strategy which was adopted in 2022.

“It’s important for tenants and property owners to understand their rights and responsibilities, especially around meeting tenants’ needs and rental housing regulations. Some tenants may also be keen to ask questions about the healthy homes standards, particularly as we move into the colder months”, said Dr Kayla Stewart, Housing Policy and Strategy Specialist, Waitaki District Council.

MBIE’s Tenancy Services team said, “We are looking forward to coming to the Waitaki District and talking with the community and sharing knowledge around tenants’ rights and responsibilities”
