Changes to land designation in Kurow, and ownership of Palmerston Squash & Racquets Club on the agenda.

At next week’s meeting of the Waitaki District Council, the Mayor and Councillors will consider the following issues, published in the public agenda available on Council’s website.

Revocation of Reserve Status for land in Kurow

The Council has been working with the Waitaki Valley Health Trust for some years to support their development of a new community medical centre facility. The Mayor and Councillors will consider approving the change in status for the land, and gift it to the Waitaki Valley Health Trust – with conditions outlined in the report.

Transfer of Palmerston Squash Racquets Club building

The Palmerston Squash Racquets Club operates from a Council-owned building in Palmerston. This building was originally owned by the Club, but entered Council ownership in the late 1980’s.

Council will consider gifting the building to the club, on the basis that they are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building, with a peppercorn ground lease arrangement. This decision is supported by the Waihemo Community Board,

Submission on Packages 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the proposed Resource Management National Directions

The Mayor and Councillors will be asked to ratify the Council submissions on updating the Resource Management Act National Directions. These were submitted to the Ministry for the Environment on 25 July 2025.

Any further public items for the agenda will be notified on Council’s website.

All upcoming meetings, agendas, minutes and attachments can be found at the Council’s Agenda and Minutes page. All meetings and workshops are listed on Council’s Meeting Calendar or on the Notice of Meetings.
