New Year’s Eve – Save the Date

Save the Date! Join us at the Ōamaru Public Gardens to say goodbye to 2022 and ring in the new year with a fantastic line up of entertainment for the whole family. After the disappointing cancellation of last year’s event, Waitaki District Council is thrilled to bring back the Party at the Gardens which is sure to be a great night out.

Waitaki District Council Mayor-elect, Gary Kircher said, “Although last year's event had to be cancelled, we have kept our plan to host this family-friendly event in the Ōamaru Public Gardens for the first time. It is wonderful to be able to celebrate New Year's Eve with our community once again.”

New Year’s Eve – Party at the Gardens
Saturday 31 December
Ōamaru Public Gardens Band Rotunda Area
6pm – 12midngiht

This event is FREE for everyone to attend. Bring your friends, whānau, blanket and chairs. Pack a picnic or enjoy some kai from the food vendors. This is an alcohol free event (no BYO) but we will have a licensed garden bar area on site.

The event will kick off at 6pm with event MC’s Mulletman & Mim, internationally seasoned full time pro champions bringing acrobatics, juggling and a whole lot of cheek to the night. There will also be plenty of live music during the evening with 2 great bands lined up so you can dance away the final hours of 2022.

7.15pm – 9.15pm – Diamond Blue, a fun covers band that play great throwbacks from the 1960’s to now.
9.30pm – midnight – local legends, The Heavy Feathers will bring you covers until 2023!

The evening will also feature activities for the kids and will provide an earlier kids’ countdown for the little ones who need to get tucked up in bed early.
