Waitaki District Council has transformed the way the community can access its District Plan maps, with the launch of the new District E-Plan on the Council’s website ( Current District Plan | Waitaki District Council ).

Previously, the maps for the District Plan were available as 77 separate pdf files and the community would have to find their own map, and scroll through the file to find the property they were interested in. This could often be a frustrating experience for the community.

With the new E-Plan, in just a couple of clicks users can find their property details and description and generate a property report for that area. The tools section also allows users to toggle on and off the relevant rules overlays as part of the plan. They can also read, and keyword search the District Plan as needed.

While this does not replace a Land Information Management report, the shift to the District E-Plan, the information available on the E-Plan is essential if you’re looking for information when considering purchasing or developing a property.

The E-Plan is a part of the implementation of Council’s transformation programme, replacing a system that could be obstructive to the community accessing information with a new system that offers a smooth and frictionless customer experience.

Following the launch, Council will be monitoring the E-Plan for any teething issues and encourages the public to report any bugs they find in the system when accessing it.
