Instead of going into Council Head Office at 20 Thames Street for enquiries and Council services, you can pop into Ōamaru Library at 62 Thames Street during the week or on a Saturday morning.
21 May 2025 10.00pm. The Waitaki District Council and Libraries websites may be inaccessible for a time while they have a resiliency upgrade before all services return to normal. Thank you for your patience.

Lake Ohau Road bridge is on track to reopen tomorrow
The Lake Ohau Road bridge is on track to reopen on Friday, subject to a structural engineer’s assessment of the bridge. When the bridge reopens to vehicles it is expected there will be some restrictions in place.
We would like to acknowledge the hard work of the contractors who have worked hard to get this access restored.
Other Local Roads: Contractors continue to work hard across the district as they continue repairs on local roads, with the aim to have limited access reinstated for many of these by Friday.
Please drive with extreme caution and allow extra time due to holiday traffic, repair works, speed restrictions and expect delays.
Please keep an eye on the WDC website for local road and the NZTA website for State Highway conditions and updates.
