The Conserve Water Notice for the Palmerston, Dunback and Goodwood areas of the Waihemo Water Supply has been lifted, after water usage remained within consent limits over the 2024/2025 summer period.
In the 2023/2024 summer period, Waitaki District Council were notified by Otago Regional Council that it had exceeded its consented water take for the Waihemo Water Supply and action should be taken to avoid it happening again.
As a result, Waitaki District Council extended a Conserve Water Notice that was issued on 2 December 2024, following a significant water mains failure on Mull Street which nearly emptied the Palmerston, Dunback and Goodwood reservoirs, for the 2024/25 summer period.
A usage graph shows both the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 summer and indicates a much lower usage this year. Thank you to all of the water customers on the Palmerston, Dunback and Goodwood Zones for their water conservation efforts this summer.
