The following candidates have been confirmed for the 2022 local body elections within the Waitaki District Council area – https://www.electionz.com/LGENominations/ELT68WT22_candidates.htm
Elections will be required for the electoral issues where the number of candidates exceeds the number of positions available. Voting papers and information about the candidates will be mailed out to Waitaki District Council electors on Friday 16 September. Voting will close at midday on Saturday 8 October 2022.
Candidates in electoral issues where the number of nominations does not exceed the number of vacancies are automatically elected and no election process will be required for those positions. The electoral officer will give further notice later in the month declaring those candidates elected unopposed.
Where there are fewer candidates than vacancies available, an extraordinary vacancy arises and the electoral officer will advertise a separate by-election process in November to fill any remaining positions.
