Rabbit Control for Cape Wanbrow and Hampden Published on 15 July 2025 Waitaki District Council will be undertaking rabbit control activity on Cape Wanbrow and at two sites in Hampden in late July and through August. Last year, Otago Regional Council issued a notice to reduce rabbit numbers on Cape Wanbrow. Waitaki District Council Agrees 9 Year Long Term Plan and Budget Published on 01 July 2025 At an Extraordinary Council Meeting yesterday, Waitaki District Council adopted its Long Term Plan (LTP) and budget for the next nine years. This plan focuses on investing in water and wastewater infrastructure to meet those standards, replacing ageing pipes, and building resilience in the face of climate change. $3 million in grant funding secured for Project Reclaim Published on 17 June 2025 Waitaki District Council is delighted to announce that the Government has provided $3 million in grant funding to support the now completed Project Reclaim. Project Reclaim removed 67,000 tonne of fly-tipped and oceanside landfill waste from three sites along the East Otago coastline in 2024, safely securing it 8km inland at a purpose-designed landfill cell near Palmerston. Kakanui Bridge replacement work to get underway Published on 01 April 2025 The replacement of the 126-year-old Kakanui Bridge will get underway this week, following the award of contract to Concrete Structures (NZ) Ltd.
