Sara McIntyre: Kākahi to Kākanui

Sara McIntyre initiates the inaugural Forrester Gallery Artists Residency through a collection of images captured during her time in te rohe o Waitaki earlier this year. Sara spent ten weeks exploring Kākanui and the surrounding area. Kākahi to Kākanui is a portrait of a community, the people, their homes, and the environment.

Sione Tuívailala Monū and Edith Amituanai: Toloa Tales

In 2023, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū commissioned two major new video works from Tāmaki Makaurau-based artists Sione Tuívailala Monū (Aotearoa, Australia, Tonga) and Edith Amituanai (Aotearoa, Sāmoa) for the exhibition Toloa Tales. Later that year, the artists travelled to Sāmoa with cinematographer Ralph Brown to film their projects.
