From Monday 11 November, Waitaki District Council will be holding a series of Community Conversations in towns from Palmerston to Ōmārama.

These sessions are a follow-up to Community Conversations held around the district in October 2023, which also informed our Annual Plan and our upcoming Long-Term Plan.

Feedback from last year’s Conversations and online responses, alongside engagement with stakeholders and communities, has helped with the development of the ‘Waitaki Story’, and a new brand identity for the Waitaki district, made possible by funding through a Tourism Waitaki grant.

This month’s series of Community Conversations will be a chance for locals to preview the new district brand and hear about how it was developed.

“We’re keen for you to share your local stories and your ideas about how to bring the Waitaki Story to life in your town.” said Mel Jones, Economic and Community Development Manager at Waitaki District Council.

The new Waitaki Story branding will be a significant part of refreshing the township and district entry signage, and the feedback from local communities about what their sign could feature will play an important role in replacing the ageing, but iconic, roadside signage across the district.

All are welcome and light refreshments will be provided.
