E aku nui, e aku rahi, e te iwi whānui, nau mai, haere mai!
Nāia te reo pōhiri ki ngā hapori o te rohe o Waitaki ki te whakanui tahi tātau i te Rā o Waitangi
We warmly invite the Waitaki community to save the date for our district-wide celebration of Waitangi Day on Friday, 6 February 2026.
This year, Te Rūnanga o Moeraki and Waitaki District Council are proud to come together in partnership to host a day of reflection, connection, and community. Our shared goal is to honour the significance of Waitangi Day, its history, its lessons, and its role in shaping the Waitaki District into the diverse and collaborative place we call home.
Waitangi Day offers an important moment for all of us to acknowledge the stories and relationships that have shaped our district, to celebrate our shared future, and to strengthen the partnership between Mana Whenua and the wider Waitaki community. Our 2026 event will focus on these themes through kōrero, culture, and community connection.
More details about the programme, location, and activities will be shared soon.
For now, we invite you, your whānau, friends, neighbours, and community groups to mark Friday, 6 February 2026 in your calendars.
We look forward to standing together as a district to reflect on our past, celebrating our present, and looking ahead to our shared future.
Kā mihi nui,
Te Rūnanga o Moeraki and the Waitaki District Council
