From courts to conferences – the Network Waitaki Event Centre is a modern, flexible space here for our community

Whether you’re hosting a sporting event, meeting, performance or special function, the centre offers a range of adaptable spaces – from six multi-use courts to meeting rooms and multipurpose areas – suitable for everything from small gatherings to large events.

With plenty of parking, accessible facilities, a kitchen and kiosk servery, and flexible hire options, it’s an ideal venue to bring people together. 

Located only 5 minutes from the centre of beautiful heritage Ōamaru, it’s close to motels, hotels and boutique accommodation, amazing landscapes, activities and attractions.

Council Service Centre

Our community told us they wanted easier ways to access Council services - so we’ve brought them to Ōamaru’s north end. 

You can now connect with Waitaki District Council at the Event Centre, making it more convenient to get the support you need.

Council staff are available on-site from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, ready to help with enquiries, information and everyday services – right in your neighbourhood.

6 Indoor Courts

Six full-size sprung indoor courts for netball, basketball, futsal, badminton, volleyball, pickleball and tennis.

The space can be divided into six areas and includes a moveable, retractable 294-seat stand for sports, presentations or lectures. With seating retracted, it can also host trade shows, exhibitions, meetings or functions.

Multi-Recreation Space

An ideal venue for larger meetings, presentations, a training room space or small exhibitions. It also works well as a function/dining room.

Upstairs - Function Room A

Other Facilities

Kitchen

Please note that the Kitchen will be unavailable during the initial opening of the Network Waitaki Event Centre.

Available for self-catering, the kitchen includes a fridge, freezer, combi oven, grill, deep fryer, sandwich press, microwaves, ample bench space, dishwasher and sinks.

Kiosk

Please note that the Kiosk will be unavailable during the initial opening of the Network Waitaki Event Centre.

Located directly in front of the kitchen, the kiosk supports food service with convenient serving hatches and includes an additional fridge/freezer

Control Room

The Control Room (for court technology) is available for use with court hire, with desks and chairs available - perfect as a central control or coordination space.

Changing Rooms

Are included for use for all court bookings (not exclusive use), with toilets, showers and generous bench seating.

Sports Equipment

Basic equipment is provided as part of court hire.

Catering

The Waitaki Event Centre does not have exclusive caterers. Instead, we work with preferred providers who can deliver high-quality food and service.

The Fine Print

NETWORK WAITAKI EVENT CENTRE agrees to allow the Hirer to use the Venue for the Event during the Hire Period in accordance with the terms of the Venue Hire Agreement.

Venue hire is inclusive of the room and what is already in it only. This doesn’t include chairs, tables etc. Any Services provided by NETWORK WAITAKI EVENT CENTRE will be included in the Services Fee, to be paid in addition to the Venue Hire Fee.

Rate for any events that are held outside of operating hours is an additional $60 per hour to keep the facilities open.

Venue Booking Policy: Where a Hirer fails to confirm a booking and another person wishes to hire the venue for the hire period or any part thereof, then the standard booking policy for the venue will apply.

Confirmation of Bookings: No booking for hire of the venue is confirmed until both the Hirer & NETWORK WAITAKI EVENT CENTRE have signed the Venue Hire Agreement (Including: Specific Terms, Special Conditions, General Terms & Conditions, and Declaration) and the Hirer has paid the Deposit (if any). NETWORK WAITAKI EVENT CENTRE reserves the right to refuse any application to hire the venue without given reason.
