Building and Consents

COVID-19 Update:

LIMS, PIMS and resource consents are likely to be affected by staff shortages caused by self-isolation during the COVID-19 outbreak. There will be delays and while we will do our best to deliver what our customers need, as of today (19 March) we can’t process urgent LIMS.

No building Inspections will be undertaken after Wednesday 25th March 2020 until further notice. No building work can proceed beyond the required next listed inspection on the approved consent documents and only if all previous Inspections have passed.

Proceeding with uninspected building work will ultimately delay a project and limit our ability to provide Code Compliance Certification. Please just be patient and delay your building work until after the alert levels are reduced. If there are any safety concerns with respect to Building/Construction they should contact Council on 03 433 04300 for further guidance.

Contractors should secure sites for Health & Safety and Security.

If you are planning to build or renovate your home or business premises, almost everything you build needs to meet a number of standards and regulations like the Building Act 2004.

Council's Building Control Services have been accredited by the Ministry of Business Innovation & Employment (MBIE) and International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) to ensure that certain minimum standards for health and safety of the building users are met in all building construction works.
