  • Trish Hurley is the passionate powerhouse behind the Waitaki ResourceRecovery Park. She will present a lively and eye-opening talk packed withstories, solutions, and real-life impact. With over 20 years of experience inwaste minimisation, Trish will share what she’s learned from the frontlinesof landfill diversion – from the 50+ items accepted at WRRP to the magicof the Repair Cafes, where broken things get a second life. Discover howsmall changes in our everyday habits can lead to big results for our planet– and why repairing, reusing, and rethinking is the Waitaki way forward.
  • Standard takeaway cups are non-recyclable, not home compostable andhave a polyethylene lining harmful to human health. In 2024 anestimated 295 million takeaway cups went to landfill in NZ alone. Nearlyfive-hundred billion plastic disposable cups are used every year globally.SUCfree Ōamaru is a community-led initiative with the goal to shift thepublic away from single-use takeaway cups to reusable sustainable cups.
