Not too late to make your vote count

Our Electoral Officers will be all over Waitaki this week, making sure people can still get their votes in​

Run out of time, or forgot? Even if you missed the cut off point for posting your vote in this year’s local body elections via snail mail, there are still so many ways to vote! 

Between now and 2019 Election Day on Saturday there are still plenty of ways to make sure your vote counts and that you pick the winning team. 

Make a Special Vote by calling into reception at Council HQ from now until 12 noon on Saturday October 12th, Election Day. 

You can put your voting papers in a ballot box downstairs at Council HQ from now until 12 noon on Saturday October 12th, Election Day .

A mobile ballot box will be travelling Waitaki Valley on Wednesday, giving people the last chance to pop their voting papers in the ballot box and also providing an opportunity for anyone to cast a Special Vote if required. 

  • Ō​mārama 10 – 11am at the Ōmārama Community Centre 
  • Otematata 12noon – 1pm at the Otematata Lakes Centre 
  • Kurow 1 – 2pm at the Kurow Information Centre 

Palmerston area residents can vote using the ballot box at the Waihemo Service Centre from now until Friday 11 October at 3pm, and council staff will be on hand on Friday 11 from 1pm – 3pm so that people can cast a special vote if required. 

Friday 11 October is the last chance to enrol on Vote NZ​ or call 0800 36 76 56 to check or update your details. 

Join Wanda, the council caravan outside Council HQ on Thames Street on Election Day. We’ll be having a sausage sizzle, so come along and make a special Vote too!
