Waitaki District Council has developed a new online Interactive Maps to help residents, land owners and holiday makers in Kurow, Omarama, Otematata and Ohau share their ideas about what kind of development they'd like to see in their township and where it should be located.
This information will be collected to feed into Council's 10 yearly review of the Waitaki District Plan – the rulebook for land use and development in the District.
The Waitaki district is experiencing rapid growth in the demand for housing, tourism and business. Council is seeking views from the mid to upper Waitaki areas around how to accommodate this growth over the next 10 years, including where things should go, what should be protected and what should be improved. The online mapping tool allows users to indicate exactly where they think new housing, businesses, car parks, community and recreational facilities and visitor accommodation should be located.
The map images below are links to the Interactive Map tool:
The interactive maps will be available on the Council's website between 20 December 2018 and 20 January 2019. Hard copies will be available at the Omarama and Kurow Information Centres, the Otematata Library and Council HQ in Ōamaru during this time.
Public drop-in sessions will be held at the Kurow Information Centre 10am - 4pm on 7th & 14th January and the Omarama Town Hall 10am - 4pm on 9th & 16th January 2019.
