Waitaki District Council has an extraordinary vacancy for the position of Councillor for the Waihemo Ward that needs filling by a very special someone. The right person will ensure the Ward has a voice in local government matters, listen to and convey the concerns of residents and ratepayers and be an advocate for Waihemo and the Waitaki district as a whole.
Are you that someone? Do you know them?
Nominations open Monday 18 January and close on noon 15 February. If an election is required, it will be held by postal vote with counting done on 13 April.
Mayor for Waitaki, Gary Kircher says, "This is an opportunity for someone to step up, who is passionate about the Waitaki district and keen to represent the people of Waihemo Ward. With its numerous and varied communities, Waihemo is an important part of the Waitaki and it deserves an excellent Councillor who can help progress both those communities and the district. If you are interested in putting your name forward and want to know more about the role and the commitment required, I'm more than happy to discuss it with you."
