NZ Music Month at Oamaru Library

Oamaru Library is celebrating our local Waitaki musicians with lunchtime concerts all through May.

The purpose of NZ Music Month is to celebrate music from our country, and the people who make it. Firmly entrenched as part of our cultural landscape, the month of May has gone from a period of encouraging radio to play more local tunes, to a 31 day celebration of homegrown talent across the length and breadth of the country.

There'll be a variety of performances offered to help you make new musical discoveries, and get excited about New Zealand music. The local Library line-up for this NZ Music Month is here:

  • Monday 14 May 12.30—The Reveal: this 3 piece Oamaru band will be playing your favourite classics with a strong emphasis on Kiwi and Aussie songs
  • Tuesday 22 May 12.30—Bridget Ellis: Local singer songwriter guitarist shares a set of songs

  • Thursday 31 May 12.30—Decadia String Quartet: Victoria van der Spek and Helen Beckingsale (violins), Mary Haig (viola) and Helen McCulloch (cello)
