Do you know any outstanding citizens of Waitaki? If so, now’s the time to nominate them for a Waitaki Citizens’ award.
Mayor Gary Kircher is encouraging people to consider those who are committed to our community through the hard work they do as volunteers.
“We are surrounded by outstanding people who do a lot of voluntary work that they are not seeking recognition for, but certainly deserve it,” says Mayor Kircher.
“The Citizens’ Awards are a great way for those people to be recognised for what they do for our community. If you know someone who is one of our community’s unsung heroes and is making Waitaki a better place to live, please consider nominating them for an award.”
The nominations for the 2018 Waitaki Citizen’s Awards open on Monday 18 June and close on Friday 27 July. Nomination forms can be found on the Citizens Awards webpage or collected from Council offices in Oamaru and Palmerston. They can also be found at the Kurow Museum and Information Centre and district libraries.
Previous Citizens’ Awards have been awarded to individuals for their voluntary involvement in a wide range of areas and interests. From the arts to sports, social and cultural, carers and environmentalists – it is a great opportunity to recognise those who ‘give’ to our community every day.
