FIRED UP: 50 YEARS OF POTTERY ON TYNE
In 1970 a group of Oamaru potters came together and called themselves the North Otago Potters. They moved into a cottage at 44 Tyne Street and became Ceramic 44, now Pottery on Tyne.
Fired Up celebrates them still running strong with 35 members after 50 years of existence. This exhibition has works from 18 members on display along with two guest artists and former members: Dot Moulton and Robert Franklin.
Pottery on Tyne will be having two "Have a go" days on Sunday 7 and 21 March 2021. To register please call 021 101 8521.
Elizabeth King, Engagement and Education officer said "It has been wonderful working with the team at Pottery on Tyne to put together this anniversary show. The work is really diverse, with ceramic busts to a Japanese Shogun vessel on display. As a part of the exhibition we have also gathered in work that was done when the group first formed in the seventies. There are some really special pieces on show."
The show carries on to April 4, 2021.
