Time is running out - enrol now before it is too late

Are you enrolled to vote Waitaki?

The 16th of August is the last day to get yourself enrolled to vote in this year’s local elections.

Oamaru harbour, the CBD, Waitaki’s water, waste, and what ratepayer money gets spent on … it is a truth universally acknowledged that you can’t complain if you didn’t vote, and you can’t vote if you’re not on the electoral roll.

This year YOU get to choose who makes the big decisions about Waitaki, including roads, our shared spaces, sports facilities, events, water and waste, subdivisions, preserving our heritage buildings and investing in infrastructure projects.

Enrolling will make voting in the local government election a whole lot easier. But you need to enrol BEFORE 16th August for voting papers to be posted to you. If you're sending an enrolment pack, you need to post it before 12th August (that’s next Monday!) to make sure it arrives on time. Check you are enrolled now at www.vote.nz.

If you do miss the deadline but only just, fear not, Carole Hansen, EA to People and Culture Group Manager said “People can come to the Council offices and request special voting papers if they have enrolled but enrolled too late to be included in the Final Electoral Roll.”
