Anzac Day Services

The Returned Services Association (RSA), together with Waitaki District Council, are pleased to confirm that there will be a number of Anzac Day services held across the district on to honour those who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations for our country. 

Wreaths will be laid at all services. Wreaths will be laid at all services.  Medals and hats may be worn at all services.  Medals of deceased Service Personnel may be worn by family members on their right-hand lapel.

Tuesday 24 April

Oamaru Service
Posy Laying ServiceService Cemetary, Oamaru3.30pm
This is a service targeted for the children to appreciate the significance of Anzac Day and remember those who fought for our country.  All welcome.

Wednesday 25 April

Oamaru Services ​​​ ​​​​​​​
Dawn ServiceGreat War Memorial, Thames St, Oamaru6.30am
Wreaths will then be laid at the Oamaru Services Cemetary at 9am followed by wreath laying at the Turikina Memorial.
Parade and Garden of Memories Civic ServiceSouth African War Memorial, Thames St, Oamaru10.30am
Parading from there to the Great War Memorial on Thames Street, then on to the Garden of Memories for the main service.
Jeeps will be available to support those veterans who are unable to march but would like to participate in the parade.
In the event of inclement weather, no parade will be held.  A service only will be held in the Oamaru Opera House, Thames Street, Oamaru at 10.30am.

East Otago Services
Assemble for Parade in Copinsha Street8.30am
Service and Wreath laying at the Palmerston Memorial Gates. 
In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held in the DG Murray Hall.
Following the service there will be a wreath laying at the South African Memorial, Ronaldsay Street, Palmerston.
A service and wreath laying will be held at the Memorial, Main Road, Dunback, followed by a wreath laying at the Memorial Stone in the Dunback Domain. 11.00am

Parade forms up on Hakataramea main street and will march to the Cenotaph6.20am
