St John Awamoa Park Lease

​​​Summary of proposal​

Waitaki District Council has received an application from St John to lease part of Awamoa Park, Ōamaru to establish and operate a purpose-built emergency ambulance base facility (see Figure 1 for concept plan).​

The maximum length of time Council can issue a lease for this purpose on Council fee-simple land must be less than 35 years. A decision to renew the lease can be made by Council in the future, but again for less than 35 years.

Note: this is not an application for resource consent. A resource consent will be required but will only follow after a Council decision has been made on the leasing of Council land​.

Key dates 

  • Friday 26 February 2021: Consultation opens
  • Friday 26 March 2021: Consultation closes
  • Tuesday 13 April 2021: Submitters present to Council hearing (if required) and Council deliberations
  • Tuesday 11 May 2021: Council decision on lease​
