Sport Waitaki

Sport Waitaki is a partnership between Sport Otago, the Waitaki District Council, the Oamaru Trust, the Lion Foundation and the Otago Community Trust. The programme was established in 2004 to address the specific sport and recreation issues facing the Waitaki community.

Aims and objectives

Sport Waitaki was set up to target these key objectives:

  • Provide first point of contact for information and inquiries.
  • Facilitate local training opportunities for volunteers, coaches, officials, and administrators.
  • Identify needs and solutions with local community sport and recreation providers and assist them in developing appropriate policies.
  • Coordinate the sharing of good management practice between clubs, codes, and communities.
  • Assist with the coordination of local events.
  • Be the local contact for other Sport Otago programmes such as Green Prescription, Active Movement and CoachForce.
