Parent and child programme - Four months to 3 1/2 years old

Programme Description
Jellyfish Happy in aquatic environment, happy in water, introduction to watering cans, introduction to buckets, introduction to movement front and back, submerging comfortably.
Frog Submerging comfortably, buckets, parents, parent/teacher, off matt/wall, 'Monkey Monkey ' supported, kicking prone, kicking supine.
Penguin Unassisted entry into the pool, prone and supine position, kicking, blowing bubbles, submersion, digging, 'Monkey Monkey'.
Mini Dolphin Safe entry/exit unassisted, Monkey Monkey independently, submerge independently, moving in front float dig/kick, independent back float with wings, independent front float with wings, push/glide/kick to and from step.
Whale Move independently in the water, kick/glide/recover, rollover front to back with wings, float with wings kicking on back, leave wall/swim back, learner and main pool, Monkey Monkey main pool.


Technique and water safety ~ (level 1-6)

Level 1-4 lessons: 25 minutes | Level 5 lessons : 45 minutes | Level 6 lessons : 60 minutes.

Each child will be given a swim school passport during the enrolment time, which will take them through until Level 6.

Level Description Lessons
Level 1

The focus of this level is water entry and exit, bubble blowing, underwater exploration, kicking, arm movements, correct body position and independent floating.

We also run this level for pre-school children in the mornings.

Level 2

Your child will build on prior water skills focusing on: floating, gliding, correct body position and independent swimming on front and back.

We also run this level for pre-school children in the mornings.

  • Kicking on front
  • Floatation back
  • Freestyle arm strokes
  • Kicking on back
Water safety: Lifejackets | Buoyancy and flotation | Rope and stick rescues
Level 3

This level will build on prior learning and provide the opportunity to swim longer distances. Treading water, breathing skills and water safety all feature in this level. Most skills will be performed independently. Swimmers will move to the Main Pool half way through the term.

  • Bilateral breathing
  • Backstroke arms
  • Freestyle breathing
  • 25m freestyle

Water safety: Treading in deep water | Boat safety

Level 4

In this level swimmers will be working on their endurance in freestyle and backstroke. Breaststroke techniques are introduced alongside building on existing treading water and breathing skills.

  • 100m freestyle
  • 50m freestyle
  • 50m backstroke
  • 2 minutes treading water

Level 5

The focus of this level is extending the distance to swim, perfecting timing and technique while working on their endurance. Tumble turns and diving are introduced and practised. 200 metres is the goal for this level.

  • 200m Freestyle
  • 25m Sculling
  • 100m Breaststroke Kick
  • 100m Backstroke
Water safety: Combine lifejackets and boat safety | Simulate real life situations
Level 6

Swimmers will work on their endurance and technique in freestyle, backstroke & breaststroke. Continue to focus on tumble turns and diving. Butterfly techniques are introduced. Matching technique with longer distances in any swimming stroke is the goal.

  • 100m Breaststroke
  • 200m Backstroke
  • 400m Freestyle
  • 25m Butterfly Kick

Adult swimming lessons

The program caters for adults by providing lessons in an encouraging and social atmosphere. All ability levels and backgrounds are catered for. The program run in a 5 week term and the cost is $55.00 (depending on numbers).

Private lessons

We provide private lessons for anyone needing individual instruction to help achieve personal goals. These lessons are available for all ability levels, the cost is $31.00 for 20 minutes.
