The Roading Maintenance contract has been awarded to SouthRoads Ltd, who has had the contract for the past five years.
The contract, worth over $12 million over three years, is due to start on 1 July 2017. Roading Manager Michael Voss says Council received two bids during the tendering process – SouthRoads combined with Downer and Fulton Hogan with Whitestone Contracting Ltd.
“The bids were rigorously examined by a team including the NZ Transport Agency, other experts and observed by two councillors. We are confident we have selected the best possible outcome for Waitaki ratepayers.”
“We have developed a good working relationship with SouthRoads and they have demonstrated their willingness for collaboration and that they understand our roading needs.”
“We expect to continue building on the good work by SouthRoads, and that the condition of our roads will improve over the next three years.”
