The Waitaki District Council and the Waimate District Council gives notice of a requirement for a designation of land, water, subsoil and airspace for the North Otago Downlands Irrigation Scheme. The requiring authority is North Otago Irrigation Company Limited (NOIC). The irrigation scheme plans to ultimately irrigate an area of up to 25,000 ha of the North Otago Downlands. The infrastructure, the subject of this designation request, has already been installed (except for the planned extension to the Tilverstowe pipelines) and its location is shown on Infrastructure and Pipelines Location Plan attached as Appendix II of the Notice.
