PUBLIC NOTICE OF INTENTION TO INTRODUCE A LOCAL BILL
Notice is given under the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives that Waitaki District Council intends to promote a Local Bill into Parliament called the Waitaki District Council Reserves and Other Land Empowering Bill (the "Bill").
The objects of this Bill are:
- to revoke the reservation of part Lot 7, DP6425 known as the Palmerston Showgrounds and to vest ownership of the land in the Waitaki District Council absolutely;
- to revoke the reservation of Lot 1, DP345820 known as property on Witham Street, Oamaru and to vest ownership of land in the current registered proprietors absolutely; and
- to clarify the status of the Lookout Point land, also known as Forrester Heights. It was originally set aside in 1885 by Order in Council, as part of a larger block, for the purposes of an endowment in aid of the funds of the Oamaru Borough Council, a predecessor to the Waitaki District Council.
The Waitaki District Council, the sucessor of the Oamaru Borough Council, wishes to have the status of the Lookout Point land confirmed as that contemplated in the 1885 Order, namely as endowment land, so that it may sell the land in accordance with sections 140 and 141 of the Local Government Act 2002.
Copies of the Bill are available for inspection for a period of not less that fifteen (15) working days from 27th January 2012 til 17th February 2012 during usual business hours, without fee, at the following locations:
