Recommending Reports for Holcim’s Cement Plant at Weston

Here are the Otago Regional Council and the Waitaki District Council recommending reports by each Council investigating Holcim New Zealand’s proposal to build a cement plant at Weston.
The reports are posted on both the Otago Regional Council’s website; and here on Waitaki District’s site.
Both reports recommend that consent can be granted to the application, subject to meeting a range of conditions to address environmental effects.
A hearing led by a panel of independent commissioners will begin in Oamaru on August 20th 2007 to consider Holcim’s application, the recommending reports and public submissions on the proposal.
The land Holcim proposes to develop into a cement plant has been zoned in the Council’s District Plan as a cement policy area since the early 1980’s.
